Product Information

Designed for the non-invasive survey of roofing and waterproofing systems, the Tramex Dec Scanner offers instant, accurate results. It is faster and more user-friendly than nuclear meters and allows the user to scan large roof areas in a short amount of time.

This lightweight device detects moisture conditions by non-destructively measuring electrical impedance. The device emits a low-frequency electronic signal via one of the two electrodes built into the rubber mat, which is then received by the second electrode. The strength of the signal will vary in proportion to the amount of moisture in the material being tested. The Dec Scanner then converts the strength of the current into a comparative moisture content value.

All the operator needs to do is move the Dec Scanner across a surface in a regular pattern to obtain a continuous reading. This will allow you to quickly and easily identify areas with higher moisture levels and determine the precise location of leaks, if present.

The Dec Scanner is easy and safe to use, and there are no regulatory restrictions or operating licenses required. Training time is minimal and mastery is quick.

The Tramex Dec Scanner is ideal for use during installation for warranty auditing and quality control or as part of an ongoing maintenance program. It also comes in handy prior to re-roofing or during repair of damaged roofs.

The Dec Scanner is lightweight and built with dependable solid state circuitry housed within a rugged molded body for long life and durability. It features an easy-to-operate control panel and is powered by two 9V PP3 batteries.

Range Selection:

The Dec Scanner has an integrated and adjustable calibration ability allowing for precise comparative readings. There are 3 ranges, and they should be selected as best suits the surface under test, for example:

  • Range 1 - Most suitable for single-ply and thin roof coverings, such as PVC, Hypalon, and other smooth surfaces where insulation is wet and moisture is closer to the surface.
  • Range 2 - Most suitable for multi-ply buildup and modified systems, mineral-surfaced felts, and other smooth or gravel surfaces where insulation is less wet and moisture is below the surface.
  • Range 3 - Most suitable for thicker roof coverings, such as a mastic asphalt, thick gravel, and stone-surfaced roofing.
