When dealing with tough, deeply embedded odors on interior surfaces, restoration and building service contractors turn to Clear B-I-N® Advanced Synthetic Shellac Sealer. This high-quality sealer is specifcally designed to eliminate strong odors caused by food, kitchen grease, mold, pet urine, fire and smoke damage, and tobacco odors from cigars and cigarettes.
Clear B-I-N Advanced contains no wax or stearates, making it compatible with clear finishes and latex or oil-based architectural paints and enamel topcoats. It seals in odors quickly while leaving the original surface unchanged.
To block unwanted stains while blocking odors, use Zinsser White B-I-N Advanced Ultimate Stain Blocker. Use Clear B-I-N Advanced on all types of painted or unpainted interior surfaces to include wood, drywall, cured plaster, masonry, galvanized metal and PVC. It has excellent adhesion to glossy surfaces, such as enamel paints and varnishes, paneling, laminates, glass and ceramic tile, without sanding or deglossing.
Clear B-I-N Advanced dries to the touch in 25-30 minutes and can be sanded or topcoated in 45 minutes.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free of any contamination, mildew, rust or unsound coatings that may interfere with adhesion. If unsure, wash the surface with an appropriate cleaner or solvent and rinse thoroughly.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-Approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
Application: For interior use only. Apply only when air, material, and surface temperatures are between 50-90ºF (10-32ºC) and the relative humidity is less than 85%. Thoroughly mix or shake to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed before using. If thinning is required, add no more than 10 ounces of water per gallon. In most cases only one coat is necessary to seal most surfaces. If excessive absorption occurs over very porous substrates a second coat may be necessary. Apply with a high quality brush, 3/8” nap roller, or airless sprayer. Follow manufacturer's instructions when using spray equipment. Airless spraying - use a 0.017" tip at 1700-2200 psi. Provide adequate ventilation at all times.
Tinting: Clear B-I-N Advanced can be tinted to off- white and pastel shades by adding no more than 1 oz. universal colorant per gallon. Shake container well before using.
Application Note: Clear B-I-N Advanced dries to a clear, low sheen finish. When applying over exotic or oily woods and moisture cured urethanes or when top coating with catalyzed finishes, always pre-test in an inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility.
Dry& Recoat Times: Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch in 25 minutes and can be recoated in 45 minutes to 1 hour. It is fully cured in 7 days.
Clean-Up: Clean up spills and paint drips with warm soap and water. Wipe up splatters before they dry. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s directions to clean spray equipment.
