IAQ Training Institute, LLC (IAQTI) has recently conducted mold remediation training courses at the St. Petersburg and St. Louis JonDon facilities and has scheduled courses in Seattle, Tampa, Chicago, Langhorn and Salem throughout the remainder of 2010.

ABOUT IAQ TRAINING
IAQ Training Institute, LLC is an Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) certified training provider and has been providing mold (microbial) remediation training across the US since 2001. IAQTI is a partnership between Joe Hughes and Cliff Zlotnik and is also the parent company of IAQ Radio a weekly podcast dedicated to IAQ, disaster restoration and building science issues. IAQ Radio airs live worldwide via the internet every Fridays at noon eastern and has recorded over 150 archived shows on IAQ, disaster restoration and building science over the past three years. JonDon is a sponsor of IAQ radio and Andy Robinson, Steve Toburen and Bill Yeadon have all appeared on at least one episode of IAQ Radio. More information is available at www.iaqradio.com The Mold Remediation Technician and Microbial Remediation Supervisor training programs are taught by Joe Hughes with assistance from several excellent hands-on instructors. Mr. Hughes is a Certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor (CMRS), Certified Microbial Remediation Consultant (CMC) and Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) through the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). Joe has over 23 years of experience providing health and safety training courses and consulting. He is a former member of the IAQA Board of Directors (6 years) and a member of the editorial advisory board of IE Connections. Joe is also an adjunct instructor at the University of West Florida.

COURSE LOGISTICS AND FEES
There is no fee to bring IAQTI to the JonDon facility for these regularly scheduled courses. All registrations are taken by IAQTI and their staff will answer any questions your clients may have. IAQTI will pay for the lunches arranged for by the local JonDon distributor. JonDon distributors supply the training room, coffee and morning refreshments. JonDon distributors can also post flyers (example attached) provided by IAQTI and are welcome to e-mail clients as per corporate guidelines. IAQTI will need to use a hands-on area in the store on the second day of the course and will purchase some hands-on supplies from the local distributor. The hands on component can be completed in any area that has about 25 feet by 30 feet of empty space. IAQTI has borrowed and Air Filtration Device (scrubber) from facilities that have one available to assist with the hands-on training. IAQTI will coordinate with the local distributor to ensure an AFD is available.

On the first day of the courses all the attendees are together in the classroom and stay there for the lecture portion of both classes throughout Day 1. On Day 2 of the course the first two hours are done together in the classroom area. After the first morning break the entire class will help design the containment area to be built by the Mold Technicians. Once the design has been determined the technicians spend most of the remainder of the day building negative pressure containment and working with equipment that is used on mold remediation projects. The supervisors continue with lecture in the training room. Toward mid-afternoon the technicians should finish the containment and the entire class evaluates it. Technicians then review for the quiz at the end of the course, take the quiz and then tear down the containment that was built earlier in the day. Technicians leave after Day 2 is over.

Day 3 of the course is for the supervisors only and includes an intensive review of industry standards, guidelines and applicable regulations. There is also significant exam review and test prep for attendees that intend to seek ACAC certification at an independent testing center. ALL ATTENDEES RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE FROM THE IAQA.

ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS
Attendees are prepared to take one of three levels of certification exam through the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). ACAC was formerly the American IAQ Council and is one of the most widely recognized certification councils in the US. The certification exams must be taken at a third party testing center on a computer. Applications will be available at the class or from www.acac.org. ACAC certifications are approved by the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) the same organization that approves the ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification. Because the certifications are board awarded, and are not affiliated with training or membership organizations they are recognized by some state regulations and US Housing and Urban Development (HUD). They are more expensive and more difficult to achieve than any other certification in the industry. Following are the levels of certification these courses prepare attendees for:

Certified Residential Mold Remediator (CRMR) - Technician Level, no experience required. 50 question exam.
Certified Microbial Remediator (CMR) - 3 years verifiable microbial remediation experience required. 100 question exam.
Certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor (CMRS) - 5 years verifiable microbial remediation experience required. 120 question exam.
