Electronics Restoration (CTR) Class Overview

Level I (Day 1)

The Level I certification class addresses the cleaning of residential electronics such as PCs, TVs, VCR/DVDs, entertainment systems, systems and other home electronics. Basic electronic equipment safety, handling, pack out, disassembly and cleaning procedures will be introduced in this course, along with basic reliability considerations for residential grade electronics. Topics will be presented to build an understanding and awareness of the need to consider residential electronics when offering a complete restoration solution to homeowners and their property insurers. These topics include what to ask, what to look for on-site (fire and water event) and insurance claim issues. The cost-effectiveness of equipment restoration will be discussed as well. “Hands-on” demonstrations of cleaning techniques will be featured, as applied to basic pressure (“blow-off”) cleaning, basic vacuuming techniques, and basic wash techniques for a PC computer. A certification examination for Level I CTR will be conducted at the end of this course.

Level I cost: $399.00 - Plus $50 certification exam fee

Level II (Day 2)

The Level II certification class addresses the cleaning of commercial electronics such as PCs, computer networks, phone systems, office machines, basic electrical systems and other office electronics. Basic electronic equipment damage mechanisms will be introduced in this course, along with more advanced safety and reliability considerations that must be taken into account when working with business grade electronics. Topics that were explored in the Level I certification course on residential electronics will be re-introduced and applied to commercial electronics. These topics include what to ask, what to look for on-site (fire and water event) and insurance issues. Disaster site stabilization will be introduced in this course, as well as the marketing of restoration services to adjusters and facility owners. “Hands-on” demonstrations of cleaning techniques will again be featured, as applied to solvent cleaning of a computer netwrok and a phone system Key System Unit. Also, a detailed demonstration of vacuuming techniques for live electronics will be featured in this class. A certification examination for Level II CTR will be conducted at the end of this one full day course.

Level II cost: $499.00 - Plus $50 certification exam fee
