Scratching and/or Scuff Marks on Resilient Tile Finish
Scratching and/or scuff marks on resilient tile finish is caused by abrasive material on floor such as sand or grit, a soft finish, or a finish that is too hard for the area. The following explains what to do in these scenarios.
Cause: Abrasive material such as sand and grit on floor. Solution: Entrance mats and a daily routine of dust mopping are needed. High-speed burnishing the area on a regular basis can help in controlling this problem.
Cause: Finish is too soft. Solution: Using Unitex Melt Down Stripper and floor machine with black pad, strip off old finish. Apply a stripper that isn’t as soft and has better wear qualities.
Cause: Finish is too hard. Solution: Using Unitex Melt Down Stripper and floor machine with black pad, strip off old finish. Apply a finish that is softer for high-use areas that can be easily repaired.
Warning: Always test material for colorfastness, follow label directions, and never mix product unless specified in the label directions. Each situation reacts differently and results may vary.
